And since I am doing this process only for finished prints that are selling well, it's not something I'll need to be doing often. I would have no problem doing an extra step (or three!!!), since those extra few minutes would be greatly offset by the much better functionality. I've never used the scanner except through PS (File>Import), so I am not understanding the process you're talking about. Can you explain how to use the driver app in Professional mode? I know nothing about this. I can use the scanner (I did download the updated driver today), but-as you wrote-it's still without those important extra settings you referenced. Thus, there is no problem using the Epson driver app in Professional mode with all the settings, scanning/saving the file, and then loading that file into PS CS5. If you want to import scans "directly" into CS5, 64 bit using Win 10, 64 bit, it won't work like it did in Win XP or WIN 7 with all the extra settings. In PS CS5 64 bit, it works but with very limited settings options. The normal Epson driver app with Auto/Professional modes(additional functionality settings) works just fine. Any reason at all not to get the newer (ie, the v600) model? The price seems to be identical for both of these models. But there were a few, ahem, language issues or communication issues when I was chatting with tech support, and I am not 100% convinced that I got the correct info.Īnyone using either the 550 or the 600 inside an older standalone version of PhotoShop? Using either on Windows 10?

According to Epson Support, both the 550 and the 600 will be fully functional with Windows 10 and will work perfectly well inside PhotoShop CS 5. So, I will scrap the v500 and buy a newer scanner. the v500 just doesn't play nicely with Windows 10.

But now that I have updated to a Windows 10 computer, the scanner no longer works inside PhotoShop 64 bit, and when inside PS 32 bit (also CS 5), it does work, but almost all of the adjustment options have disappeared. I had been doing this with my Epson v500 scanner on my old Windows Vista computer. Since lith prints need to spend 25+ minutes in the developer, using a scanner is a huge time-saver!!! When I do lith prints in my home darkroom, I want to scan those prints (inside PhotoShop CS 5), so I can print out additional copies.
